Kim, I, and over 200 fellow Street Pastors attended a day of refresher training on Saturday 4th November at Kings Community Church Centre, Upper Northam Rd, Hedge End.
It was a great day & we covered various topics including: Prayer, spotting human trafficking and human slavery, the Biblical basis for Street Pastors, and team leader training.
While the whole day was very useful, I would particularly like to mention the excellent team leadership training - which was carried out by Simon Hester. This training referred to The U.S. Army Leadership Field Manual, and cited Rick Rescorla - as a pattern of how to lead. There are three key words to sum up this invaluable training: Be, Know, Do.
1) Be of strong ethical and moral character (loyalty, integrity, discipline).
2) Know valuable skills and knowledge (technical and personal).
3) Do utilize the leadership skills to make a difference.
Apart from being a decorated war hero, Rick Rescorla was responsible for saving well over 2000 people on 11th September 2001. Watch These videos to find out more about Rick & what made him such a great great man and motivational leader.
Truly humbling and inspirational!
