OneDrive - what are those icons trying to tell you?

Microsoft OneDrive uses icons in the notification area and File Explorer tell you the sync state of the file or folder. There are lots of different icons that OneDrive uses to communicate with users. Below are the most frequently seen icons & their meaning.

Blue cloud icon: A blue cloud icon next to your OneDrive files or folders indicates that the file is only available online. Online-only files don’t take up space on your computer. You can’t open online-only files when your device isn’t connected to the Internet. Learn more about OneDrive Files On-Demand

Green tick icon: When you open an online-only file, it downloads to your device and becomes a locally available file. You can open a locally available file anytime, even without Internet access. If you need more space, you can change the file back to online only. Just right-click the file and select “Free up space.”

Solid green circle with the white check mark: Files that you mark as "Always keep on this device" have the green circle with the white check mark. These always available files download to your device and take up space, but they’re always there for you even when you’re offline.

Reading for today: Isaiah the prophet tells of Jesus - the Suffering Servant

He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

Ariel's latest upgrade! R&G's Tail-Tidy kit for the Honda CB1000R Neo Sport Cafe

This is a short video of my experience installing the R&G Tail Tidy kit (SKU: LP0254BK) for my Honda CB1000R+ Neo Sport Cafe.

Why do this upgrade? Honda standard fit this gorgeous, delicately designed bike with a humongous plastic/ally rear fender/mudguard/reg plate holder. The R&G tail tidy removes this entire assembly & looses almost 1.7Kg at the same time.

The UK cost is approx £150 - which is quite a lot when you see what comes in the box! HOWEVER - the design & build quality is excellent. When you have completed the install - you'll be glad you hadn't ordered a cheapo Chinese knock-off...

Do have a look at this excellent video from "The 333". I wondered why he didn't include more footage of the install itself. The reason (I suspect) is the R&G instructions for installing this kit leave plenty to the imagination! So sometimes you have to be creative - or use your imagination! So where I wanted to include shots of all steps of the process, it all got a bit tricky, and sadly wasn't easily possible to do capture all of the installation.

Top tip: stick the unreadable printed instructions in the recycling, then download & print this version in A4 full colour! Then keep an open mind regarding these instructions & crack on!

If you are thinking of installing this tail-tidy on your bike - just do it! Honestly - it looks fab & really smartens up the rear end of an already very pretty bike.

Peter - A Spoken Word for Easter. Part 1

For this Easter, and in association with Bible Society, we've put together two spoken word films that tell the Easter story through the lens of Saint Peter.

This is Part 1 of the story. In it we journey with Peter as he reflects on the final few days of Jesus’ life; from his palm-leaf entry into Jerusalem, through to Jesus’ trial and Peter’s denial. This has to be the lowest moment of Peter’s life as he swears blind he’s ‘never even met the guy!’

It’s a reminder that despite all the best will in the world, Peter messed up royally and let Jesus down. Maybe you can see your self in the story, too? I know I do.

Support the Trussell Trust to build a #HungerFreeFuture

There’s no room for hunger in 2021. This year, let’s stand together and create the changes we all need to see. It’s time to build a #HungerFreeFuture. We need change to create a system that works for everyone.

Across the UK, people just like you are making a hunger free future possible. In just a few months, more than 80,000 of you have raised your hands to demand fundamental change, locally and nationally.

Now, we need to keep working together to tackle the issues that are driving people into destitution. Through our policy work and by supporting food banks to deliver services that can help people address the crises they’re facing, we know change is possible. It isn’t right that anyone has to use a food bank, and as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic continues to unfold it’s more important than ever that we take action.

No one should be forced to turn to a charity because they can’t afford food. Together, we know this can change. And thanks to our supporters, that change has already begun. Join us now and add your voice to our campaign to help create a Hunger Free Future.

A new Windows is coming this year. What does it mean for you?

It's no secret that Microsoft is launching a new Windows this year. Windows 10X has been in the works for a long time, building on the Windows Core OS project that also powers HoloLens 2. Originally intended for use on dual-screen devices like the postponed Surface Neo, Windows 10X has been reconfigured for use with single-screen laptops and will roll out in the next few months, on new systems.

You could think of 2021's version of Windows 10X as Microsoft's answer to Google's Chrome OS, a lightweight operating system for relatively low-cost hardware that will mainly run cloud-hosted and web applications. It's not the full desktop Windows 10 that many people use for work and for gaming, and it's unlikely to ever replace it.

Microsoft has had to make significant design compromises to deliver a new operating system, changes that make it more akin to Windows 8's Windows RT

John McAfee charged with fraud over cryptocurrency

Businessman John McAfee, creator of the McAfee anti-virus software, has been charged in the US with conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering.

Mr McAfee and his bodyguard Jimmy Gale Watson Jr are accused of promoting cryptocurrencies to Mr McAfee's large Twitter following to inflate prices.

The currencies were then allegedly sold, making the pair $2m (£1.45m), prosecutors said.

The men have not commented on the charges.

White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors: am I now allowed to go for a ride on my bike?

White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors 08/03/21 - It’s been a long time to wait we know, but our Government does like to leave things till the eleventh hour! The law regarding venturing out has finally been published. And I’ve written a blog on how I see it affecting bikers.

To start with let me be clear - national lockdown has not ended and we have not returned to any of the tier systems so don’t think that what’s gone before is reinstated.

Essentially you’re still not supposed to be going out if you can avoid it. But there are now exceptions and one of these is to visit a “public outdoor place” for “open air recreation.”

And the good news is you can use your wheels for this. But in a group of no more than two - and that includes pillions - so three’s a crowd and you can’t get a big group together for a day out.

Remember - you can only go out if an “exception” applies - so don’t just think you can head on out and do what you want - read and save the blog, print out the rules, even keep them with you.

The law is new, untried and untested so understandably different police forces will need time to interpret it.

My advice is don’t get into an argument with a copper. Keep your cool and it may help to have my full blog with you.

Take the time to read the blog in detail too so you know and understand fully the risks of heading out.

For some it may still be too soon - that’s a moral question for you not a legal one.

Hopefully the blog will answer your questions .

The 51 Most Iconic Motorcycles of All Time - according to gearpatrol.com

They are equal parts simple and complex, a mechanical interpretation of form meeting function with attitude to spare. Whether it’s chrome glimmering in the sun, the artful engineering behind a single-sided swingarm or their ability to outrun just about anything, motorcycles are more than just simple transportation. They strangle attention. Ride one down the street and watch as babies point and smile mid-whimper, dogs chase joyfully, angsty teens fight the curling in the corners of their mouths, old biker types in leather nod with supreme comprehension.

There are countless combinations of weapons-grade speed, sex, beauty, design and freedom found between two tires, sure - but these fifty-one, specifically, are the icons hand-picked by Gear Patrol as our favourites of all time.

A good selection in this list - some of my personal faves were included: Honda CB750 (Jeff's bike pictured above!), Kawasaki Z1, Manx Norton, Brough Superior SS100, Honda Gold Wing, Harley-Davidson V-Rod, Yamaha Vmax, Ducati Monster, Ducati Desmosedici RR, Bimota Tesi 3D, Kawasaki Ninja H2.
Conspicuous by their absence though: Yamaha RD350LC, Suzuki GSX1100S KatanaKawasaki GPZ900R.

Panorama: Rubbish Dump Britain. The scourge of fly-tipping

Fly-tipping is a national problem that is ruining our towns and countryside. There are more than a million incidents each year of illegally dumped rubbish in the UK. So why are so few people prosecuted for damaging the places we love? Reporter Richard Bilton investigates a crime that affects us all and meets some of those who are fighting back against the fly-tippers.

A BBC investigation has revealed how the government’s licensing system for waste carriers fails to stop fly-tipping.

Panorama filled a garage in Harlow with rubbish and then asked a licensed company to collect it. Tracking devices had been placed in the rubbish by the programme team to see where the items ended up. The team was shocked by what it found.

Panorama: Rubbish Dump Britain - originally aired on BBC One, on 1st March 2021, and can now be watched on BBC iPlayer.

Do you run Microsoft Exchange Server? Better read this, check & action ASAP!

Microsoft has released patches for multiple different on-premises Microsoft Exchange Server zero-day vulnerabilities that are being exploited by a nation-state affiliated group.

The vulnerabilities exist in on-premises Exchange Servers 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019. Exchange Online is not affected. We wanted to ensure you were aware of the situation and would ask that you help drive immediate remediation steps.

Specifically, to minimize or avoid impacts of this situation, Microsoft highly recommends that you take immediate action to apply the patches for any on-premises Exchange deployments you have or are managing for a customer or advise your customer of the steps they need to take. The first priority being servers which are accessible from the Internet (e.g., servers publishing Outlook on the web/OWA and ECP).

To patch these vulnerabilities, you should move to the latest Exchange Cumulative Updates and then install the relevant security updates on each Exchange Server.

You can use the Exchange Server Health Checker script, which can be downloaded from GitHub (use the latest release).

Running this script will tell you if you are behind on your on-premises Exchange Server updates (note that the script does not support Exchange Server 2010).

We also recommend that your security team assess whether or not the vulnerabilities were being exploited by using the Indicators of Compromise we shared here.

Well you learn something new every day. Today it's: "non-fungible token". Wish I hadn't bothered!

LONDON (Reuters) - In October 2020, Miami-based art collector Pablo Rodriguez-Fraile spent almost $67,000 on a 10-second video artwork that he could have watched for free online. Last week, he sold it for $6.6 million.

The video by digital artist Beeple, whose real name is Mike Winkelmann, was authenticated by blockchain, which serves as a digital signature to certify who owns it and that it is the original work.

It’s a new type of digital asset - known as a non-fungible token (NFT) - that has exploded in popularity during the pandemic as enthusiasts and investors scramble to spend enormous sums of money on items that only exist online.

Blockchain technology allows the items to be publicly authenticated as one-of-a-kind, unlike traditional online objects which can be endlessly reproduced.

“You can go in the Louvre and take a picture of the Mona Lisa and you can have it there, but it doesn’t have any value because it doesn’t have the provenance or the history of the work,” said Rodriguez-Fraile, who said he first bought Beeple’s piece because of his knowledge of the U.S.-based artist’s work.

“The reality here is that this is very, very valuable because of who is behind it.”

“Non-fungible” refers to items that cannot be exchanged on a like-for-like basis, as each one is unique - in contrast to “fungible” assets like dollars, stocks or bars of gold.

Wow & I thought Bitcoin was a worthless waste of time & money. Bitcoin - you have been usurped from your throne by NFT!
