In these difficult days what can we do to support British workers?

NB: This is not a Brexit rant.

A couple of years ago I was having a discussion down the pub (remember those days?) with a chap who said that the country was doomed due to leaving the EU! The example he gave was: down the A27 in Chichester was a huge facility growing tomatoes which were exported. He said that these exports would dry up and the people would loose their jobs. I countered that while at the supermarket the previous week - the only tomatoes that I could find were from Morocco or Spain - none from the UK!

Now here's a cunning plan: Why don't we support British farmers, food producers & manufacturers - where product is available. OK - we don't grow many pineapples, mangoes or avocados - but we do grow & produce plenty of other good things. If we "Buy British" where possible - we would not only support British workers / businesses, reduce the balance of payments & also reduce the food & product miles accrued on the stuff that we buy - so a by-product would be helping the environment. Win-Win!
