Isle Of Wight Cowes "floating bridge" - a floating disaster?

Businesses should be compensated for their losses during the suspension of the the Isle of Wight's troubled new floating bridge, campaigners have said.

Crowds gathered to watch as the chain ferry began operating on 13 May 2017, replacing a vessel that had run between Cowes and East Cowes for 40 years.

However, cars struggled to embark and disembark without scraping their bumpers and the vessel broke down the following morning. The Isle of Wight Council is yet to confirm when the service will resume.

Update: The Floating Bridge is out of action again - just a few hours after its relaunch.
